Dr. Fishback earned his Bachelor of Science in Zoology and Psychology at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He then obtained his Doctor of Medicine Degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Fishback decided to specialize in psychiatry while completing his psychiatry rotation at the Cleveland Clinic. He completed his internship in surgery at USC and his psychiatry residency at UCLA and New York Medical College at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Greenwich Village in New York City. Dr. Fishback served as the Chief Forensic Psychiatrist for California’s Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation for a decade. He has worked as a solo practitioner in private practice, first with privileges at Cedar’s Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for over a decade, then in Palm Springs since 2011.
With a continuing desire to learn, Dr. Fishback has pursued additional education with courses in psychoanalytically-oriented psychotherapy at the New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute, hospital administration with healthcare information technology at the New School for Social Research in New York City, and civil/torts, contracts, and criminal law at Purdue Law School (formerly Concord Law School) in Los Angeles.
Dr. Fishback identifies as a gay man and practices in the densely populated LGBTQ+ community of Palm Springs, California. His current practice is limited to adults with ADHD, depression, and anxiety disorders. He has been providing services exclusively via telemedicine since the COVID pandemic. In 2025, he may require initial (for new patients) and annual (for patients receiving controlled substance prescriptions) in-office appointments. However, he will continue to conduct most follow-up care via telemedicine appointments for patients’ ease, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.
