Hello! I’m Anne, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) providing outpatient therapy to individuals across Virginia, both in person in Blacksburg and virtually throughout the state.
My clinical training includes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA). I have relevant training in the Foundational Safe Zone training program and the Be There Certificate from the Born this Way Foundation, both of which helps with creating an affirming environment for all people.
I work with individuals navigating a range of concerns, including ADHD, autism and other neurodivergent experiences, LGBTQIA+ identity, anxiety, mood disorders, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, gender transition, polyamory and ethical non-monogamy, substance use, and challenges across different stages of life. I’m particularly interested in making mental health care more accessible, affirming, and responsive to peoples individual experiences.
Outside of my clinical work, I’ve had opportunities to contribute to mental health conversations through news commentary and media interviews. I’m interested in helping make mental health information accessible to the public and bringing a clinical perspective to topics affecting individuals, families, and communities.
I also offer freelance diversity education and training for organizations, teams, and community groups. Topics include neurodiversity, LGBTQIA+ communities, gender identity and transition, and nontraditional relationships. In a previous role as chair of a Diversity and Inclusion Group, I helped facilitate education and outreach focused on working more effectively with diverse and underserved populations.
Earlier in my career, I was named a 2020 Her Campus and Neutrogena Faces of the Future winner, recognized as the only winner working in behavioral health and the only winner from Virginia. In 2021, I received the Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Grant, which supported my graduate education and helped me pursue work in substance use prevention.
I’m always happy to connect with fellow professionals, discuss opportunities for mental health education and media commentary, or explore freelance training and collaboration opportunities.
