I am a private practice lactation consultant serving Queens and Brooklyn, New York City. I have experience supporting LGBTQ+ families in providing human milk for their babies. My clients have included lesbian parents, nonbinary parents, and transgender parents, and I have also worked with families using nonbinary pronouns for their babies.
I am comfortable using inclusive language with families, and use “parent” or “pregnant person” as a standard of care with all families. I do not refer to my clients with gendered terms or nicknames unless they use those terms for themselves–for example, I won’t call someone “mama.” My intake forms ask for pronouns for both parent and baby. I am always trying to keep my verbiage as inclusive as possible in all of my points of contact.
On my educational platform, I have hosted trainings on induced lactation, co-nursing, trans parenting, intersectionality, bias, reproductive justice, and lactation in transmasc individuals. I am cisgender and heterosexual and strive for cultural humility with all the families who work with me.
My practice is client-centered and I work supportively and collaboratively to help each client in what works best for their family using the most up-to-date evidence-based research into human lactation and infant feeding.
