I have been a practicing psychologist in. Washington, DC for 45 + years. Early in my career I created and directed a not-for-profit mental health facility for women. This practice included the treatment of many lesbian and transgender women. Accordingly, I studied these groups both within my clinical psychology program and through outside Continuing Education programs. Since starting my private practice in 1981 I have remained strongly committed to working with the LGBTQIA+ community. I have spent time in training at Whitman-Walker, am a longtime member of the HRC, a founding member of the Mautner Project, and a supporter of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington.
Personally, I grew up in Manhattan with a family firmly rooted in Civil Rights traditions. The adults largely worked in the fashion industry, several of my relatives being gay (including my grandfather’s brother). When I moved to DC in the early 1970s I believe it was the first time I even encountered an anti-LGBTQ+ prejudice. I would be happy to be included in your organization’s professional listing.
