My work with LGBTQIA+, Latinx, and other BIPOC communities is extremely important to me. I came to the USA from Venezuela as a pre-teen and I’m passionate about supporting others through the fear and joy that goes along with any identity searching process. I have personal experiences of hiding and shame that comes with being queer in a Latin family, and have supported others through the layered grief and excitement that comes with exploring your identity despite the confines of an oppressive society and while seeking the freedom of supportive communities.
My work with LGBTQIA+ communities began in grad school while I was studying for my Master of Social Work degree at the University of South Florida where I worked with a diverse team observing groups for folx living with HIV and ensuring proper facilitation for research. I then continued work in the community by providing mental health and counseling services to LGBTQIA+ teens and adults, as well as gender affirming psychotherapy for trans and nonbinary individuals. I specialize in processing trauma, and stress, including toxic stress created by living in an oppressive society, toxic household, or having experienced abusive relationships. I help people work through feeling misunderstood, improving their self-esteem, and learning the tools needed to lean into their most authentic self.
I work with Cigna and Aetna, and I offer sliding scale rates (based on income and need) to be able to serve my community as best as I can, please request more information regarding sliding scale rates when you submit your inquiry!
