My name is Dr. Ellyn Johnson. I’m a queer, Black woman psychiatrist offering identity-affirming care for adults in Maryland, D.C., and Virginia. Only around 2% of psychiatrists (roughly 850) in the U.S. are Black, no data is available for Black women specifically, and I am proud to be one of them. My practice is rooted in compassion, cultural humility, and a deep respect for who you are. I work with clients navigating depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, identity stress, and the mental health impact of oppression and trauma.
My approach is thoughtful and grounded in an understanding of how culture, gender, and lived experience shape our mental health. I offer detailed psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis & treatment planning, medical cannabis evals (for patients in Maryland or Virginia), medication management, and collaborative care with your existing providers (if desired).
I am in-network for Aetna and CareFirst and have a sliding scale appointments available.

Saturday: 2 PM — 5 PM
