As a gay man who came of age in the height of the AIDS epidemic, I’ve seen tremendous change in my lifetime. I rejoice at the many new freedoms and opportunities we now have and yet struggle to understand the constant back sliding on so many fundamental concerns. Working as a psychiatrist I serve people of all walks of life and rejoice and celebrate the diversity that this human experience affords us. At the same time, I recognize that my lived experience allows me to step into the healing journey of my fellow travelers in the LGBQ+ experience in ways that others might not be able to do so readily.
Raised in a conservative religion, I also understand the heartaches and sorrows that can come with the difficult decisions that are made with and without us in the realm of spirituality. I support clients wherever they are and if my experience of transitioning out of religion might be enlightening I can share that hope of rich spiritual life outside of traditional organized religion.
I have a special interest in psychedelics and have training on psychedelic integration. I also ensure clients have the best options possible including medication management, individual and group psychotherapy, TMS, Spravato and ketamine (as medicine and as part of psychotherapy).
