Dr. Mittal is a board-certified Family Medicine Physician and HIV Specialist (AAHIVS) at Austin Regional Clinic. They earned their BS in Public Health from The University of Texas at Austin and their Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Columbia University before completing medical school at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and residency at UT Austin Dell Medical School. Their background in public health and experience as an adolescent sexual health educator, GLMA fellow, and president of their medical school’s Medical Student Pride Alliance chapter have shaped their commitment to accessible, inclusive healthcare.
Dr. Mittal chose family medicine because they value hearing patients’ stories, understanding the people behind the diagnoses, and building meaningful, long-term relationships. They are particularly passionate about preventive care, LGBTQ+ health, adult gender-affirming medicine, and HIV/STI prevention and treatment. They strive to provide individualized, affirming care that empowers patients to make informed decisions about their health. Above all, Dr. Mittal believes good care starts with listening and understanding what matters most to each patient.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Mittal enjoys cooking for friends, playing pickleball, exploring Austin with their partner and pets, and creating content for their TikTok channel, “GenderDefenders.”
