If you grew up praying the rosary but now wonder whether the pew still has room for you, I’m glad you found your way here. I’m Dr. Jenny Shields (she/her), a trauma-informed psychologist and board-certified healthcare ethicist who has spent years walking with Catholics and other Christians who are also lesbian, gay, bi, trans, or queer and who refuse to choose between their faith and their whole, honest selves. My work is not conversion therapy, and it’s not a debate about doctrine. It’s a quiet, judgment-free space to breathe, name the hurt that can come with coming-out conversations, sort through guilt or grief, and rebuild a sense of belovedness that no one can yank away.
I’m an LGBTQIAP-allied psychologist who has spent years deepening my training so I can show up as a genuinely informed, affirming partner in care. I recognize that for some clients, sexual orientation or gender identity is a focal point of therapy—something we name, explore, and tend to directly—while for others it’s simply one thread in a much larger story. My job is to meet you where you are, never pathologize who you are, and let you decide how much your identity takes center stage. Whether we’re untangling the sting of exclusion, writing a gender-affirming letter, or working on anxiety that has nothing to do with being queer at all, you’ll find a space that treats every facet of you with equal respect and radical compassion.
