I am originally from Miami, Florida to a Cuban-immigrant family. I identify as a cisgender genderqueer lesbian female and use she/her/ella pronouns. I obtained my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from NOVA Southeastern University, where I specialized in long-term mental illness, and got my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Florida State University. I have had the privilege of treating clientele from diverse backgrounds in both English and Spanish, and have experience working in a variety of settings such as inpatient programs, crisis units, community mental health centers, and outpatient clinics. While my theoretical orientation is eclectic, I lean toward Cognitive-Behavior Therapy and Rogerian (or Person-Centered) approaches.
I am proficient in treating several mental health issues, including:
depression,
anxiety,
schizophrenia other related psychotic disorders,
bipolar disorder and other related mood disorders,
substance abuse including dual-diagnosis,
gender dysphoria.
I help clients identify their problematic thinking patterns, develop coping mechanisms, process trauma, and understand how past experiences affect their current level of functioning. I value the transformative nature of strong therapeutic relationships, and am proficient in providing therapy for individuals, groups, couples, and families. My goal is to apply my compassion and expertise to the therapeutic process, while helping my clients improve their lives, ultimately attaining a sense of peace and fulfillment.
My practice, Ocean Psychology Group, is committed to multicultural competence and anti-racist practices. Our mission is to provide empathetic, informed, and culturally sensitive treatment to all who seek it. We require all staff and mental health service providers to demonstrate multicultural competence upon hire and to maintain it throughout their time with us. We are dedicated to breaking down barriers and fostering a more inclusive approach to mental health care. We believe that everyone, regardless of background or circumstance, deserves access to effective and compassionate mental health services. Our primary mission is to address the unique mental health needs of underserved populations and minority communities. We are committed to creating a safe and welcoming space where individuals from all walks of life can receive the support and care they deserve. We believe in the transformative power of mental health care. By prioritizing the needs of underserved and minority populations, we aim to contribute to a more equitable and inclusive mental health landscape.
Ocean is a great place to go for mental health services. I saw one of the providers but my son and friend saw different providers. They all seem to be so warm and easy going. But also and most important we’re all really benefitting and our mental health is improving. Highly recommend Ocean!
