I am a cis gender Puerto Rican artist and art therapist who has lived in several states and communities within the US and currently live in the Twin Cities. I have close friends and family who identify in the LGBTQIA+ community and those relationships have shaped and continue to teach me about compassion, humility, and understanding perspectives other than my own. I have know “otherness” my whole life not being White enough, not being Hispanic enough, and having multiple Neurodivergent conditions including ADHD. My hope, and experience as a therapist, is that my lived experiences can bridge connections with clients who struggle to feel seen, heard, and understood in a world that others them just for existing.
I engage from a non-pathologizing, feminist-relational, values based, and culturally competent lens. This is frames how I approach clients, the integrations of my specific set of clinical practices and trainings, and the treatment considerations and recommendations I make when building a therapeutic relationship with new clients. I believe in fostering creative imagination and illuminating the stories found within. I aim to find belongingness and connection with clients where storytelling through art and expression becomes an active process of investigating our perceptions, identities, and communications more effectively through the forms and symbols we make. Supporting, challenging, and witnessing clients’ journeys of re-creation is the starting place where I can begin to help clients find healing and freedom in their present circumstances.
I offer in-person and online therapy aiming to eliminate barriers to quality therapy services. Everyone deserves to have access to care that reconnects them to family, community, and themselves. I look forward to getting to know you! I have and continue to work with various mental health conditions & communities using art and dialogue to visualize narratives and provide opportunities for clients’ voices to be heard and seen. I have taught master’s level gender and sexuality art therapy and counseling courses covering gender affirming care, cultural, and ethical considerations for working with LGBTQIA+ clients and individuals in non-traditional relationships. I have training and experience writing letters for gender affirming medical care.
