Hello! I’m Beck. I am an occupational therapist in Washington, DC, with over 8 years of experience as an OT. I am a queer, transmasc non-binary person, and have vast experience working with other individuals who identify similarly. I take a strong interest in the intersectionality between LGBTQ+ identity and disability, and the occupational performance that can be affected with these intersectionalities. Occupational therapy focuses heavily on self-identity and achieving personal self-fulfillment through activities of daily living and meaningful activities, and I strive to create a practice where these identifiers are both celebrated and achievable for you.
I specialize in working with children and young adults, but can work with all aged individuals, with a variety of disabilities, including autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, developmental delays, and medical complexities as well as individuals who are Deaf and hard of hearing, have seizures disorders, cortical vision impairment, and chronic disabilities. I also have a strong interest in working with trans clients who are navigating the medical and legal system, who have disabilities to best support them in their trans journey.
I use a strengths and interests based approach, creating visuals, supports, and programming that is individualized to meet the needs of each client I work with. I place a large emphasis on supporting individuals who require highly individualized supports and modifications to foster independence. Some skills I work with clients on are executive functioning, fine motor, visual motor, energy conservation strategies, job readiness skills, and self-advocacy skills.
I would love to work with you and help you discover your occupational potential!
