I am a board-certified gastroenterologist and inflammatory bowel disease specialist at UCSF Health, where I serve as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine. I identify as a gay physician and am committed to providing welcoming, affirming, evidence-based care for LGBTQ+ patients. My clinical practice focuses on Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, with particular attention to how sexual orientation, gender identity, sexual health, and gender-affirming care may intersect with gastrointestinal health.

I founded and lead the UCSF Rainbow IBD Clinic, which provides LGBTQ+ affirming care for people with inflammatory bowel disease. I strive to create an environment where patients can discuss their identities, relationships, sexual practices, symptoms, and healthcare goals openly and without judgment. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and centered on helping patients feel respected, heard, and involved in decision-making.

I also have specialized training and experience in high-resolution anoscopy, anal HPV, anal dysplasia, and anal cancer prevention. I provide anal cancer screening and management of precancerous lesions for those at risk. I perform high-resolution anoscopy through the UCSF Anal Neoplasia Clinic, Research and Education (ANCRE) Center.

My research focuses on improving care for LGBTQ+ people with gastrointestinal conditions, including studies of healthcare quality, vaccination, mental health, gender-affirming hormone therapy, anal HPV, anal dysplasia, and anal cancer risk in people with IBD. I completed gastroenterology fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and advanced IBD fellowship training at UCSF.
