Hi there! I provide therapy via telehealth in PA, NJ, ME, and VT (USA) and consultation to people everywhere. If you’re wanting affirming care that helps you get to know yourself more deeply, feel more connected with yourself, others, or the natural world, explore your own experience and make-up on a level that goes beneath the surface, or work with intense feelings or trauma responses, I’ll be glad to work with you.
Sine 2018, I have provided therapy full time to diverse populations. My style is collaborative, anti-oppressive, genuine, and intended to support your growth at a sustainable pace. I draw from several approaches. The primary one is internal family systems (IFS), which I have completed Level 3 training in from the IFS Institute. I have additionally served as a teaching assistant for many IFS Foundations trainings for queer, trans, and non-binary clinicians and I am in the IFS certification process. IFS bolsters the ways we can go deep into your experience while honoring its fullness and complexity. If desired, I integrate somatic (body-based) techniques with IFS. I also use emotionally focused therapy (EFT) and have completed the externship and core skills trainings centering working with LGBT+ populations. EFT provides an additional set of tools for witnessing your experiences and, if we are working together in relationship therapy, for increasing the closeness in your relationship. Relational therapy is an additional orientation I bring: this helps me to tune into relationship dynamics in your life and how these affect you. It also means that I will bring curiosity to what is alive for you in the dynamic between us, and how it may be relevant to other areas of your life. Finally, if you’re interested in exploring your connection with the natural world or your responses to climate change or ecocide, I have completed Level 1 ecotherapy training and will be glad to facilitate this work.
Here are some of areas my clients focus on frequently: tending to the impacts of trauma, complex trauma, relationship and attachment wounding, or loss; changing how they connect with other people or their relationship patterns; getting closer with themselves; being held in feelings of burn out or experiences of working in caring or healing professions; exploring gender or sexuality; navigating our broader cultures while holding marginalized social locations and/or while being autistic, an ADHDer, or an AuDHDer; working with anxiety; working with depression.
I work with adults and teens and provide individual, relationship, and individual IFS intensive sessions. To be in touch about working together, please contact me at thigpen.lcsw@pm.me or at https://www.kaizthigpen.com/, where you may also read more about me and my work. Please be aware that I do not accept insurance. I do offer a sliding scale for people with financial need (depending on availability) and, for people with commercial insurance paying my full fee, I offer superbills to submit for out-of-network reimbursement.
