Does this sound familiar? You feel helpless, broken, flawed, and unacceptable. Your inner critic is loud and tough. It feels impossible to quiet the noise in your head. You’re on edge all the time and exhausted. It’s like you’ve been shattered to pieces. Parts of you feel stuck in the terrible things that happened to you. Others are trying to go through the motions every day hoping no one notices how lost you feel. Part of you just wants to disappear. Sometimes it’s hard to know which one is the “real” you. You might be having memory issues, losing time, and feeling spaced out, numb, shut down, or detached from life. You notice yourself getting easily upset or anxious, and may not even be able to explain why. You have a hard time setting boundaries, advocating for yourself, and making the changes you want.
My name is Katie, and I’m here to help you reclaim your life from trauma. It might feel like traditional talk therapy has failed you, but that’s not because you’re too much or too broken. You just haven’t found the right fit yet. Together we can break the cycles keeping you stuck, help you master new, more effective ways of living the life you want, and process the trauma of your past that’s keeping you from enjoying your present and embracing a more hopeful future.
I draw from several types of evidenced-based therapy to help create the approach that’s right for you, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), exposure therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), parts work, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and more. I earned my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Rollins College with a certificate in family and relationship therapy, and I currently serve clients ages 18 and up as a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern, a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, and a National Certified Counselor. I’m passionate about serving the LGBTQIA+ community as an ally and understand that informed, compassionate care includes advocacy, continuing education, and the internal work of dismantling implicit biases and internalized discrimination that result from our broader culture of systemic oppression. I’ve completed trainings in providing Safe Zone Allyship, LGBTQ Counseling Competencies, Making Unconscious Biases Conscious, and providing informed and compassionate care for BDSM, Kink, and Polyamory/CNM communities. It’s my honor and privilege to partner with you in your growth and healing!
