My name is Dr. Kimberly N. Works, MD, FAAP — a board-certified concierge pediatrician, Certified Lactation Counselor and founder of Pediatric Works LLC in Atlanta, Georgia. I am a cisgender, heterosexual Black female physician who believes deeply and without reservation that every human being deserves access to compassionate, high-quality healthcare — regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, family structure or how they came to parenthood.
I have had the honor of caring for LGBTQ+ families throughout my career — same-sex parents, transgender parents, families built through IVF, surrogacy and adoption, and every beautiful family configuration in between. In my practice, you will never be asked to justify your family structure, explain your choices or wonder whether you are truly welcome.
As a Black female physician, I understand intimately what it means to navigate a healthcare system that was not always designed with you in mind. I know what it feels like to walk into a room and wonder whether you will be seen, heard and respected. That lived experience shapes how I show up for every family I serve.
At Pediatric Works, I offer a concierge model of pediatric care that is uniquely suited to LGBTQ+ families. My practice includes home visits, same-day appointments, 24/7 direct physician access on select plans, extended unrushed visits of 30 to 60 minutes, mental health check-ins woven into every visit, and full care coordination with specialists. There are no waiting rooms filled with unfamiliar faces, no rushed ten-minute appointments, no rotating physicians. Just one consistent, trusted doctor who knows your child and your family deeply.
For families expecting a baby through IVF, surrogacy or other pathways, I offer our Before & After Baby Concierge Experience — a complete 4th trimester support team including a lactation consultant, pelvic floor therapist and mental health professional, working together to support both parent and baby from the third trimester through the baby’s first three months of life. This package was designed with intentionality for families who have worked hard and waited long to welcome their child — and who deserve a full, coordinated village of support when that moment finally arrives.
My commitment to the LGBTQ+ community extends beyond my clinical practice. Pediatric Works is proudly listed in the GayLesbianDirectory and I have served as a community sponsor for Men Having Babies — an organization supporting gay men and their families through surrogacy and co-parenting. I am committed to continuing to build relationships with LGBTQ+ organizations, fertility clinics, surrogacy agencies and birth workers across Atlanta to ensure that LGBTQ+ families always have a trusted pediatrician in their corner.
I believe healthcare is a human right — not a privilege, not a reward, and not something that should come with conditions attached.
