My name is Leah Mead and I’m a licensed mental health counselor and a licensed substance use counselor in Rochester NY. Throughout my career, I have developed a passion for working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse communities, because I understand how hard it can be to live in a world where things are harder simply because of your identity. I identify as queer and neurodiverse (AuDHD) and when I came out, I lost everything. I learned that it is so important to have people that understand and support you. Whatever you’re struggling with, you don’t have to do it alone.
I have worked on adapting evidenced based therapeutic approaches for neurodiverse clients. I have completed multiple trauma certifications and somatic trauma trainings. I advocate whole-heartedly for all types of gender affirming care, and I am open about how I document therapy sessions (minimally and gender neutral). My goal is always to keep you as safe as I’m able to, particularly under the current administration. I use harm reduction and collaboration to help you reach your goals. I believe that you know yourself better than anyone, and I am here to assist and empower you to become the person you want to be, while challenging thoughts or behaviors that are standing in your way
