I offer art therapy to school-age kids, teens and emerging adults who feel like they don’t “fit in” so they can explore their identity, build confidence, practice coping and communication skills, and create space for themselves to live authentically. My affirming approach is rooted in feminist theory, emphasizing care and attention to the relationships and social contexts that give meaning to your child’s life. I’ve been practicing art therapy for almost 25 years, primarily with youth and young adults, many who’ve identified as LGBTQ+. Art therapy can be an effective approach for people with all levels of art-making experience, so no talent is required. We’ll use structured art tasks to identify and understand feelings, relationships and experiences. This approach to psychotherapy can be especially engaging and effective for people who need more than “just talk,” who’ve maybe tried talk therapy, but felt like they could only go so far with it. Ultimately, our work together is intended to help deal with day-to-day challenges, as well as bigger questions about identity, aspirations and the future.
Clients have the option to meet in-person at my office in South Jersey. I see telehealth clients across New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
Outside of my clinical work, my art-based research and writing has focused on gender, food and body, chronic illness, human/animal relationships, bisexuality, and an upcoming chapter on neurodivergence.
I identify as a neurodivergent, vegan, cisgender bisexual woman with chronic illness.
