I’m a neurodivergent person (autistic) and my experience of gender and sexuality has always been fluid, which has meant I often haven’t fit comfortably in the expectations/scripts of heteronormative society. I bring to my practice as a therapist a deep appreciation for human diversity. In practice, this means I do my best to be genuinely client-centered, meaning I try to understand each clients values, meanings and experiences instead of imposing my own. My practice focuses on people who’ve experienced relational trauma in their families of origin and at school. LGBTQ+ folks often have experiences of being shamed for being different, and some grew up fearing they’d be rejected by their family and community if they were fully themselves. My commitment and passion is to support clients in including and embracing all of their experience. Being authentic when you know you may be received with rejection or hostility is deeply challenging. But if our aliveness makes some people uncomfortable or even angry, we can’t let that stop us from living. I’m very glad to offer to be a safe, appreciative witness for you as you explore your experience and move towards the life you want.
