As a queer therapist, I combine my lived experience with my training to provide the most affirming care possible. Research consistently shows that individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community experience higher rates of mental health symptoms compared to the general population, and affirming therapy is key in reducing these symptoms. In addition to my lived experience, I am trained in LGBTQ-affirming CBT, although I do not force any one treatment modality onto my clients. I believe in approaching treatment from a trauma-informed lens, meaning that I believe that our past informs our present. I love to incorporate mindfulness and self-compassion into my work with clients to assist us in breaking down those negative core beliefs and conditions of worth that we experience growing up and within society daily. I value self-disclosure in the counseling room and believe that it is healing to feel that you’re speaking with another human being rather than a blank slate. I see adolescents and adults in the afternoons and evenings, and occasionally offer weekend sessions as well.
