A little about me: I am a self-identifying member of the LGBTQ community. I am a primary care physician that focuses on LGBTQ health.
I have been trained in LGBTQ health by working with the Eskenazi Transgender Clinic here in Indianapolis, Mosaic Health & Healing Arts in Goshen, and with Dr Christine Wallace in Fort Wayne, IN.
What I do: HIV Prevention with PrEP, STI testing, transgender hormone therapy, primary care/mental health for LGBTQ patients. I’d love to have you as a patient! Call the number above to schedule an appointment!
my wife and i are both trans and have been going to Dr. Giffen for the past few years both as a hormone provider and GP. we’ve had such wonderful care every single visit with him, no matter what the reason for us stopping by!!! always very kind, professional, and genuinely cares for each patient as a person instead of just another illness to solve. even my mother (also a transwoman) sees him for her regular/hormone check-ups. love being able to have a safe space with Dr. Giffen!!! 🙂
I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to describing the impact this physician has had on my life. From the very first appointment, I felt seen—not just as a patient, but as a human being. There’s a warmth in their presence, a calm, genuine empathy that immediately puts you at ease. It’s rare to meet someone who listens—not just to your words, but to the things you’re struggling to say. This doctor does exactly that.
They create a space that feels safe, judgment-free, and deeply respectful. It’s in the way they ask questions, the way they remember the little things, and how they meet you where you are, emotionally and mentally. I’ve found myself opening up in ways I never expected, and I credit that entirely to the trust and compassion they’ve cultivated in their practice.
They don’t just treat symptoms—they encourage growth. They help you rediscover your own voice, your strength, your truth. I walk out of appointments not only feeling cared for, but inspired. That’s not something you can measure in charts or test results. That’s the kind of healing that happens in your soul, just to be heard and understood by someone who can relate on a similar baseline.
I was so happy to find a gay doctor after dealing with a very judgmental straight PCP who was clueless about PreP and DoxyPeP. I was getting the care I deserved, so I was very happy to find Dr. Giffin! He takes the time to get to know your situation, understand what you need, and delivers the care in a safe environment. I highly recommend him both. My husband and I are so happy to be working with him.
I’ve been lucky with doctors my whole life—even a flamboyant preteen in the 80s. (Trust me: there was no hiding it!) So, when I say, “Dr. Giffen is the best of the best,” it’s high praise that he’s truly earned. He’s friendly, knowledgeable, calming, and trustworthy. He puts you at ease, has the perfect balance of humor and professionalism, but stays on-focus. He stays up-to-date on both established science/medicine and the latest studies & treatment options. He initiates MyChart check-ins and, more importantly, responds quickly to the ones I initiate, answering my questions completely. Most of all, he’s passionate about his work. And I don’t just want a smart doctor; I want one who cares. Dr. Giffen’s care shines through. Look . . . I know not everyone’s had my luck with doctors, so I’m probably coming at this review from a different angle compared to your experience. But trust me when I say: If you’re searching for one who truly sees you, truly understands you, please do yourself a favor and give Dr. Giffen a visit. You won’t be disappointed.
My husband and I have been seeing Dr. G for 3 years now. We absolutely insisted on finding a gay doctor after being in San Francisco for many years. We love his openness, enthusiasm, and positive attitude. We are so lucky to find him in a such an anti-LGBTQ state. Thank you Dr. G!!!
I recently had my first appointment with Dr. Giffen. After losing my long-term PCP who moved out of state, I was pinballed back and forth through providers and specialists with no real interest in taking the time to understand my long list of health concerns or making me feel comfortable and confident in my care. It’s thanks to this website that I stumbled across Dr. Giffen and I am so relieved that I think I could cry. First of all, he has an amazing bedside manner and is courteous, honest, knowledgeable and kind. Best part is that I can already tell that he’s the kind of doctor who involves you in your care and gives you options and information to help you come up with the best care plan together. It’s so hard to find a doctor who is willing to take the time (especially as a patient with many chronic conditions) to make you feel seen and heard and welcome.
As a neurodivergent person who NEEDS that extra bit of time, I did not feel rushed one single time in the almost hour we were in his office. He was thorough in going through and understanding my conditions and reassuring me that he had my back. There was a great amount of empathy and kindness as well and you can just tell that he cares about his patients and their well-being.
I am not from Indianapolis, and had to make a bit of a drive to see him. To anyone thinking about making that travel: It is 100% worth it just for the quality of care you’ll receive from Dr. Giffen. I have personally found it such a struggle to find affirming and caring providers, especially as part of the LGBTQ+ community and the neurodivergent community. Finally, after a long search, I feel like I’m in the right hands.
