Dr. Gelow was born and raised in the Midwest (Michigan, Go Green!) and found the perfect solution for his perpetual quest for sunshine by settling in sunny Arizona… but there is always a back story…
After receiving his Medical Doctorate (MD) degree in 2011 from American University of the Caribbean he completed his Family Medicine Residency training in Scottsdale, Arizona, receiving “Outstanding Resident Teacher” award during this time. He is dually board certified in Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine and also has his HIV Specialist credential from American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM).
As you can see, education is never ending as he also specializes in LGBTQ+ related care including gender affirming hormone therapies and is preceptor to many medical students and resident doctors from schools across the nation (you just might meet a couple along their journey). Through his practice, he has realized that underserved and marginalize populations are disproportionally affected with significant comorbid conditions and the education and training he has received help him treat these unique and often difficult treatment populations that many others are unwilling or unable to. By incorporating humor, sympathy, and of course education in every patient encounter, he allows you to feel comfortable while he manages all medical aspects of care and tries to avoid referrals to specialists if able, creating an innovative treatment experience. In 2017 he was named Top 20 Influential Millennials by AZ Business Magazine.
But wait there is more! Throughout the valley, he acts as medical director for Substance Abuse Treatment Programs as well as other clinics to help expand access to treatment. In his free time he spends time with his Partner, Puppies, playing Pickleball and seeing the world one country at a time… let him know of any recommendations you might have!
We hope to partner in your care soon!
