As a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, I feel driven as an OBGYN physician to provide high quality care for patients of all gender identities and sexual orientations. I frequently see LGBTQ+ patients for routine gynecologic concerns, prenatal visits/obstetric care, STI testing, contraceptive counseling, and more. Additionally, I have experience in serving the transmasculine and nonbinary population by providing gender affirming surgical care (hysterectomy with or without oophorectomy).
A gynecologic exam can often be found to be invasive, at best, or traumatic, at worst. However, I endeavor to ensure all patients feel as safe and comfortable as possible in my office. Some of the ways I accomplish this are to defer the exam until the second or even third visit and offer medication to help with anxiety and/or pain if needed.
I have completed formal trainings throughout medical school (University of Chicago), residency (University of Vermont) and beyond. I have also received hands on training with clinicians who specialize in treating the LGBTQ+ patient population. My goal is not only serve patients personally but also to share this knowledge with my colleagues and students to increase the number of affirming providers.
