Hi, I’m Ria Saunders, MS, RDN, LD (she/her). I’m a registered dietitian nutritionist with over a decade of experience providing weight-inclusive, non-diet nutrition counseling. I own and run Pine Grove Nutrition Counseling, based in Brunswick, Maine. I offer both in person and virtual support (licensed in Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island).
I grew up in a part of northern Maine where queerness wasn’t often spoken aloud. It took years, including navigating my own eating disorder, before I had language for who I was. I identify as queer, specifically bisexual and demisexual, and that journey shaped both my recovery and the social justice-oriented, size-inclusive framework I bring to my work today.
As an RDN, I specialize in supporting people navigating disordered eating, eating disorders, and difficult relationships with food and body. Many of my clients identify as queer, trans, and/or neurodivergent. I understand firsthand how anti-fat bias is intertwined with other oppressive systems, including homophobia and transphobia, and I see it as part of my responsibility to challenge those systems in my clinical work. My queerness, my recovery, and my commitment to liberation-centered care are deeply intertwined, and they guide how I show up for clients and in my community.
