Welcome! I am so glad you are taking this important step toward wellness and healing. Whether it is your first time in therapy or you are resuming treatment, you deserve the utmost respect. I believe that therapy works best when there is a strong relationship between client and therapist. In therapy, you will experience a non-judgmental space where you will feel safe, heard, and genuinely understood. Our work together will help you understand yourself, as well as your relationships with other people, so that you can more effectively cope with stressors in your life. Together, we will work toward creating meaningful, long-lasting change and developing self-compassion.
One of my passions is helping couples learn to improve their communication and deepen their connection and intimacy. Exploring the impact of your earliest familial relationships can have a powerful impact on how you view your romantic relationships today. Together, we will learn tools for effective communication and work on identifying and expressing your needs and desires, which can make room for your relationship to blossom.
Another passion area of mine is working with parents. As a mom myself, I have experienced first-hand the impossible demands placed on parents; especially new and expectant moms. I know that you want to be the best parent you can, but you can’t pour from an empty cup! When you are a caregiver, it is so important to have a space that is just for you, and that is what I hope to provide in therapy.
I also love working with individuals experiencing relationship difficulties, survivors of trauma in both childhood and adulthood, folks navigating life transitions, identity development, and people struggling with anxiety. In addition, I’m extremely passionate about providing identity-affirming care to folks who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
I am guided by a trauma-informed, integrative approach that primarily draws from psychodynamic psychotherapy while incorporating evidence-based tools from cognitive behavioral therapy to help alleviate symptoms quickly. I aim to view each patient through multiple lenses, and make tailored interventions to suit each individual’s needs. I believe that we are all shaped by our family of origin and our early childhood experiences, so things that happened a long time ago may still have an impact on your day-to-day life. We will work together to explore how things that happened to you are affecting your life and relationships, and I will help you make impactful changes. My therapeutic style relies on warmth, patience, and a sense of humor to help each patient feel comfortable and accomplish their goals in therapy.
Therapy is hard work, but I promise that you will also feel seen and held like never before. I look forward to meeting you!
Experience
Throughout my training, I have been fortunate to gain experience working with patients of all ages in a variety of settings, including community mental health, hospitals, and private practice. I have received specialized training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing (MI), behavioral activation (BA), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), prolonged exposure (PE), and exposure and response prevention (ERP). I also have experience working with couples using emotion focused therapy (EFT) and have training in the Gottman method as well.
