Why do I feel this way? This question has come up in so many versions throughout my sessions with youth, adults, and families. Sometimes the question is focused on others.
Working with a therapist can be a chance to self-reflect with encouragement. To skillfully challenge the inner critic perhaps. To learn and practice changing out-of-control habits. In my work, I prioritize compassion and acceptance as well. If you’re looking to work on change but recognize the importance of building connection, community, and acceptance then please reach out. I genuinely believe that we benefit from growing.
I have worked with mothers and fathers. I have worked with youth overwhelmed by social pressures or recovery from violence. I have worked with professionals trying to find their footing again in competitive or highly demanding roles. I have worked with those struggling in their recovery from addiction. I am now entering over ten years of experience working with those with serious mental illness and trauma. I may not be a match for everyone but if you think we may be then please reach out.
I have experience in adherent, full- protocol Dialectical Behavior Therapy though would currently offer a DBT Informed approach if appropriate. I also work from a range of therapeutic models including Behavioral Activation, Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral Therapies (CBT, ACT), Strengths Based Practice, Emotion Focused Therapy (Individuals and Couples), and Cultural Humility.
My ideal clients are teens, emerging adults, and adults across generations.
