I’m Brenton Guice (he/him), a queer neurodivergent counselor/therapist, dedicated to providing affirming, trauma-informed mental health care for the LGBTQIA+ community. As the owner and therapist at The Mental Hug, I specialize in supporting adults navigating life transitions, grief, trauma, and LGBTQIA+ journeys. My approach is rooted in deep empathy, empowerment, and creating a space where you can feel truly seen and supported.
I am a Certified LGBT Business Enterprise (LGBTBE) through the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce and an active member of my local LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce, ensuring that my practice remains connected to and engaged with the community. My training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) allows me to help clients work through trauma and emotional distress, particularly those who have experienced discrimination, rejection, or identity-based struggles.
Beyond my therapy practice, I actively advocate for LGBTQIA+ mental health awareness. I have spoken at Kansas City Pride events, educating attendees on mental health challenges within the community and ways to foster resilience. My passion for inclusivity extends to my community-building efforts, where individuals can find connection, validation, and support outside of therapy.
If you’re looking for a therapist who not only understands the unique experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals but also actively works to uplift and advocate for the community, I’d love to support you on your journey.
