At Cook Counseling and Consulting Inc., we proudly provide affirming, inclusive, and evidence-based mental health care for clients of all identities, with a special focus on serving the LGBTQIA+ community. With locations in central Ohio and Georgia and telehealth services in multiple states, our diverse team of clinicians is committed to fostering an environment of trust, equity, and personalized care.
We recognize the unique challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals and are dedicated to providing support that affirms their experiences. Our clinicians are trained in culturally competent and trauma-informed care to address issues such as coming out and identity exploration, gender dysphoria, transition-related challenges, discrimination, stigma, minority stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Additionally, we offer couples counseling that respects and affirms non-traditional relationships, including polyamorous partnerships, and we work collaboratively to strengthen communication and connection within LGBTQIA+ relationships.
Our team is experienced in working with LGBTQIA+ clients and has undergone specialized training, including gender-affirming therapy practices, competencies in addressing LGBTQIA+ health disparities, and continuing education on intersectionality, trauma, and resilience. Many of our clinicians are certified in evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and they adapt these methods to meet the unique needs of LGBTQIA+ clients. We also provide letters of support for gender-affirming medical care following WPATH guidelines, ensuring that our clients receive the care they need with compassion and respect.
To further support our LGBTQIA+ clients, we offer Queer Compass, an addiction recovery group tailored specifically for LGBTQIA+ individuals. This group provides a safe and affirming space for community members to explore recovery, build resilience, and connect with others who share similar experiences. We also work closely with medical providers, community resources, and advocacy organizations to ensure comprehensive and collaborative care for our clients.
At Cook Counseling and Consulting Inc., we proudly have clinicians who identify as LGBTQIA+ allies, advocates, and community members. Our practice is rooted in person-centered care, prioritizing safety, authenticity, and self-expression for all our clients. Whether you’re seeking support for navigating identity, relationships, mental health, or life transitions, our mission is to empower every client to embrace their authentic selves and achieve their mental health goals.
