I’m a lactation consultant, certified postpartum doula, perinatal mental health coach, and parent of three children. My work with families is evidence-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and gender-affirming. I have a Perinatal Mental Health Certificate through Postpartum Support International and am a Certified Perinatal Neurodiverse Lactation Specialist. I am particularly adept at supporting parents with mental health concerns, parents at risk for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and neurodivergent parents (such as ADHDers and Autistic parents). I like to say that I support “all kinds of families with all kinds of brains.”
I’m a lifelong learner and can usually be found reading up on the latest lactation research or watching a new training on inducing lactation; working with queer, trans, or neurodivergent parents; fitting folks for pump flanges; or counseling on medications and herbs during lactation. Once upon a time, I completed a PhD in Comparative Literature and authored a dissertation entitled Illegible Women: Feminine Fakes, Facades, and Counterfeits in Nineteenth-Century Literature and Culture. My research on gender identity has shaped how I provide gender-affirming care as well as how I support families in navigating the tremendous identity shift that occurs during early parenthood.
My lived experience as a neurodivergent parent, with a neurodivergent partner, to three neurodivergent kiddos informs how I work with families through a nervous system-informed lens. I’m always thinking about nervous system regulation, sensory needs, attachment, and mental health when I work with parents and babies. Families who’ve worked with me share that they appreciate how I’ve supported them in finding the best path for their family in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner. I love helping families find ways to provide human milk for their babies in the way that works best for them, whether that’s breastfeeding/chesting/bodyfeeding, inducing lactation, co-nursing, exclusive pumping, combo feeding, using a supplemental nursing system, or some combination of these.
My services are in-network with several major insurance companies. I offer lactation clinic visits in South Austin, home visits in Austin, Texas, and the surrounding areas (Lakeway, Dripping Springs, Driftwood, Buda, and Kyle), and telehealth/virtual visits worldwide.
