Hello! My name is Jes and I identify as a two-spirit, pansexual, Mexican Indigenous person of color who is a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community using he/they pronouns. In addition to these identities, I have lived and educational experience in sex work, kink, BDSM, ethical non monogamy, and polyamorous relationships. My experience also includes formal education in social work specializing in direct service for the Indigenous and LGBTQIA+ communities. Specialties include gender-affirming care, relationship counseling, identity development, and anxiety and bipolar disorders. I am trained in CBT, EMDR, Gottman Method of Relationship Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and Theraplay. As part of my licensure, I maintain these skills by participating in continuing education around these topics.
As a full member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, I provide gender-affirming, outpatient mental health counseling, as well as conduct assessments and letters for gender-affirming surgical interventions.
My style of counseling is attachment-based through a social justice lens that emphasizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and advocacy. Drawing from attachment, humanistic, eclectic, and directive approaches, I collaborate with clients to formulate their goals for counseling. Our work together typically involves using solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) and person-centered therapy models to help folx reach their therapeutic goals in an effective, timely manner.
