I am a licensed psychologist specializing in reproductive stressors, events, and transitions. I provide virtual psychotherapy to adults that live in NC or 42+ PSYPACT states.
Reproductive mental health can include, but is not limited to:
-mental health during pregnancy and postpartum (e.g., depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, bipolar I or II, grief)
-grief and loss in the process of family building (e.g., pregnancy or infant loss, stillbirth, termination for medical reasons)
-family building decision-making (including abortion, navigating LGBTQ+ family building options)
-adjustment to parenthood
-hormonal and menstrual concerns (e.g., PMDD, PCOS, perimenopause)
-coping with stressful medical procedures or complications (e.g., culturally insensitive care, birth trauma, fetal surgery, egg retrieval, endometriosis surgery, cervical biopsy, pelvic radiation, NICU/PICU).
-medical complications impacting reproductive and sexual health
My work is centered in my belief in reproductive justice. I believe that all people should have bodily autonomy and access to safe environments in which to make choices around having (or not having) children and parenting them. Everyone is welcome in my practice, including but not limited to people that are part of communities that have experienced systemic violations of bodily autonomy (e.g., people of color, LGBTQ+ communities, people with disabilities). I recognize that many people, regardless of gender identity and gender expression, experience reproductive-health related events and medical conditions, pregnancy, and parenthood. The principles that guide my care are: culturally conscious care, trauma-informed processes, and celebrating diversity and resisting oppression.
I completed my PhD at Duke University and my residency in the Reproductive Psychology track at UNC. I provide evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapies with flexibility for a personalized approach to care.
