I’m Kara Gibbs, a licensed clinical social worker who brings over fifteen years of clinical experience to my telehealth practice, grounded in compassion, curiosity, and deep commitment. I relocated to Richmond, VA in July 2025 after many years practicing in Nashville, TN, and I now serve clients across both Tennessee and Virginia.
My Identities, Perspectives & Lived Experience
I identify with she/they pronouns and resonate deeply with queer, trans, non-binary, and gender‐fluid experiences of identity. My own journey—including religious deconstruction, internalized shame, and belonging questions—has informed my work and allows me to deeply empathize with clients navigating identity, change, and self‐authorship. I believe in honoring the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and affirm that sexuality and gender exist on spectrums rather than fixed binaries.
Specialty(s) & Services for LGBTQ+ Clients
I specialize in supporting LGBTQ+ adolescents and adults—especially those exploring gender and sexuality—and couples and individuals seeking a sex‐positive, kink‐affirming, and relationally attuned therapeutic space.
My practice offers:
LGBTQ+ / queer‐affirming individual therapy
Gender exploration and identity work
Couples/relational therapy inclusive of a full spectrum of relationship types and configurations
Trauma therapy (including religious/spiritual trauma, nervous system regulation, and relational trauma)
Support for helping professionals, caregivers, and those experiencing burnout or navigating major life transitions
Clinical supervision (for pre-licensed mental-health professionals) in both individual and group formats in TN & VA.
