I believe strongly in the importance of supporting people’s authentic selves. Our gender identity and sexual selves are some of our most core areas, and I am passionate about pursuing education and training to ensure that those areas are treated with respect and skill. In my undergraduate years I started an organization for LGBTQ+ students because the school lacked resources for those students. Through graduate school and for the past 25 years I have treated LGBTQ+ clients both individually, as couples, and working with parents of LGBTQ+ kids and teens. I am a member of The Affirmative Couch, an organization that provides continuing education for the care of LGBTQ+ clients. Through that organization I have completed a course on Affirmative Supervision and DBT Skills for Microaggressions. Through my faculty position with the PACT Institute I have also completed courses on Trans Mental Health Care, Unconscious Bias, Racism, Being An Ally, the Intercultural Development Inventory ® and Engaging Differences Using Mindful Facilitation.
