Leaf Psychiatry is a therapy-forward psychiatry and psychotherapy practice committed to providing clinically excellent, deeply human, and affirming mental healthcare. Our mission is grounded in a simple belief: Life doesn’t have to hurt. We help people move toward meaningful relief, greater emotional safety, and a stronger sense of connection to themselves and others. We believe mental healthcare should address the whole person rather than reducing someone to a diagnosis, symptom checklist, or medication regimen.
Our values include compassion, curiosity, honesty, collaboration, and respect for each patient’s autonomy. We strive to create a space where patients can bring their full stories without fear of judgment, pressure, or dismissal. Treatment is individualized, evidence-based, and grounded in the belief that life does not have to remain defined by pain. Our goal is not simply to help patients tolerate ongoing distress, but to help them build steadier, more connected, and more meaningful lives.
Leaf Psychiatry is especially committed to serving LGBTQ+ and gender-diverse communities. We recognize that sexual and gender minority patients may encounter discrimination, family rejection, religious harm, barriers to affirming healthcare, and previous negative experiences with mental health professionals. Our providers work to offer care that respects each patient’s identity, relationships, values, and lived experience.
We provide affirming mental healthcare without treating LGBTQ+ identities as illnesses or problems to be corrected. Our practice explicitly rejects conversion therapy and other Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Change Efforts, also known as SOGICE or reparative therapy. We welcome survivors of these experiences and understand that recovery may involve trauma, shame, grief, spiritual conflict, distrust of healthcare systems, or difficulty feeling safe in relationships and communities.
Our approach also makes room for patients who are exploring questions related to identity, faith, family, relationships, or belonging. Affirming care does not require a patient to arrive with every answer. We seek to provide a safe and respectful environment where people can explore their experiences without coercion or predetermined outcomes.
Services at Leaf Psychiatry include comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, psychiatric medication management, individual psychotherapy, trauma-focused care, and integrative mental health treatment. Depending on the provider and the patient’s needs, treatment may incorporate Internal Family Systems parts work, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills, solution-focused therapy, behavioral activation, and other evidence-based approaches.
Our psychiatric providers can evaluate and treat conditions including depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, burnout, insomnia, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, and other complex mental health concerns. Medication is used thoughtfully and collaboratively as one possible part of a broader treatment plan. We emphasize clear education, shared decision-making, careful monitoring, and treatment goals based on each patient’s priorities.
We also provide care for patients experiencing spiritual or religious trauma, identity-related stress, caregiver strain, complicated grief, relationship difficulties, and periods of major life transition. Our team is comfortable working with patients whose concerns do not fit neatly into one diagnosis but still cause significant distress or interfere with daily life.
Leaf Psychiatry’s broader goal is to improve access to mental healthcare that feels both safe and substantive. We want LGBTQ+ patients to know they do not need to hide important parts of themselves to receive high-quality psychiatric or psychotherapeutic care. We are committed to ongoing learning, accountability, culturally responsive practice, and creating a healthcare environment where each patient is treated with dignity.
