As a queer Asian-American with a nonbinary long-term partner, I have lived experiences that support my understanding of the unique challenges LGBTQ+ individuals (especially those who are also BIPOC) face in our society. I specialize in play therapy with queer and/or neurodivergent youth and enjoy working with kids as they explore their gender and sexual identities. I practice from a strengths-based perspective and aim to bring curiosity, authenticity, and joy into my work. Queer and trans joy is a beautiful sight and I love digging into this to bolster folks overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, fear, and uncertainty. My work also often includes assisting parents as they navigate their own challenges associated with having an LGBTQ+ child and figuring out how they can best support them.
My practice is framed from a social justice lens where I practice anti-racist and anti-carceral care. I am currently supervised by a queer, Asian-American LMFT who holds these same values. I have taken trainings in LGBTQ+ youth specific suicide risk, assessment, and intervention as well as in the intersections of queer theory and narrative therapy to help LGBTQ+ clients define their own life stories. Growing up is hard and confusing, especially for LGBTQ+ youth and those holding multiple intersecting marginalized identities. If you’re interested in an affirming, safe space for your LGBTQ+ child, I’m here to help!
