Hello all! I’m Rachel Tate (they/she), M.S., LMT, SEP, and I am a licensed massage therapist, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, movement guide, and nervous system educator primarily serving the LGBTQ+ affirming community in Vancouver, Washington, with remote offerings available globally.
With 20 years of experience in health and wellness and nearly 10 years in bodywork, I aim to bring quality of care to each session that only time and devotion to a practice can provide.
The type of work I specialize in is trauma-informed, integrative bodywork that combines Somatic Experiencing methods, neuro-centric manual techniques, and therapeutic movement aimed at re-establishing a deeper connection with the body.
My work supports people recovering from and processing trauma, individuals who require sensory accommodations, touch-apprehensive folks, and people who are overall interested in processing the human experience through the felt sense. This particular approach is a complementary support to people actively engaged in psychotherapy, in addition to people looking for different therapeutic modalities, not limited to cognitive processing.
I am particularly passionate about bringing a dynamic approach to mind-body connection-based healing for folks who have felt like other methods don’t quite fit or need more accommodations than previously offered in traditional health care settings.
My training includes a 900-hour massage therapy program, completion of the 3-year Somatic Experiencing training, a Master’s of Science degree in Psychology with an emphasis on post-traumatic growth, a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a focus on gender studies and community health, therapeutic movement study, and countless hours of continuing education centered on nervous system care.
When I’m not providing care, I can be found gardening, drinking too much coffee, and spending time with my wife and four fur babes
