I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) providing trauma-informed, affirming psychotherapy for adults navigating complex PTSD, relational trauma, anxiety, ADHD, identity development, shame, attachment wounds, and life transitions. My work is especially well-suited for LGBTQ+ clients seeking a therapist who understands the impact of minority stress, stigma, family and community dynamics, identity exploration, and the emotional toll of living in environments that have not always felt safe, affirming, or fully seen.
My clinical approach is warm, direct, and deeply affirming. I integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR-informed trauma treatment, somatic awareness, and practical skills to help clients build safety, self-understanding, emotional regulation, and more secure relationships. I work well with clients who are carrying longstanding trauma, dissociation, chronic shame, self-criticism, attachment injuries, or difficulty trusting themselves and others. I also support clients who are sorting through questions related to sexuality, identity, gender expression, belonging, intimacy, and the intersection of these experiences with trauma histories, religious background, family systems, and cultural expectations.
I strive to provide LGBTQ+-affirming care that is not performative but clinically grounded, respectful, and responsive to the real complexity of people’s lives. That includes creating space for clients who have experienced rejection, concealment, invalidation, identity confusion, spiritual conflict, relationship challenges, or difficulty accessing care that feels both competent and genuinely human. I value collaboration, consent, curiosity, and nuance, and I aim to help clients move toward greater internal clarity, self-trust, resilience, and connection.
I’ve been working with Avi for a year now. He’s helped me with addiction issues stemming from ADD as well as emotional intelligence issues. His counseling has helped me immensely both personally and in my relationship. I fully recommend him for anyone facing these issues.
I’ve been in therapy on and off since my mid-to-late 20s, and I can say pretty confidently that working with Avi has been a turning point for me. Getting properly diagnosed with CPTSD and ADHD alone shifted so much—but the real change has come from the work we’ve been doing together this past year.
IFS (Internal Family Systems) has been… honestly, kind of life-changing. It’s the first modality that’s actually helped me understand myself in a way that feels clear and actionable, not just theoretical. Instead of feeling stuck in patterns I couldn’t name, I can now recognize what’s coming up, where it’s coming from, and how to work with it rather than against it.
Avi creates a space that feels both grounded and expansive—there’s structure, but also room to explore without judgment. I’ve noticed a real difference in how I move through the world: less reactive, more aware, and with a kind of internal steadiness I didn’t have before.
If you’ve tried therapy before and felt like something was missing, or you’ve been dealing with things like CPTSD or ADHD that never quite got addressed in a meaningful way, I can’t recommend this work enough.
He truly saved my relationship by helping me uncover deep-seated patterns I wasn’t even aware were affecting my life. Through his guidance, I gained a much clearer perspective on my own actions and learned how to align my behavior with my core values.
His expertise in Internal Family Systems (IFS) was a game-changer for me; it opened my eyes to my different ‘parts’ and gave me the tools to understand them rather than fight them. Additionally, as someone with ADHD, I found his approach incredibly practical. He helped me shift from seeing my ADHD as a hurdle to using it as a tool to improve my relationships both at work and at home. If you are looking for a therapist who is insightful, transformative, and skilled at navigating complex personal dynamics, he is the one to see.
