Throughout life, we may inadvertently pick up certain “truths” or stories about ourselves—I am not enough; I am a failure; there’s something wrong with me; etc. On the surface, we rationalize against them; but sometimes deep down, they’ve stuck and keep us stuck. As a therapist, stephanie (she/they/?) is curious about the stories we tell about ourselves: how they emerge, expand, and effect mental wellness. Prioritizing precision and depth, stephanie works best with those seeking lasting growth, transformation, and healing by addressing the root causes of distress. Together, we can work towards your goals and living a freer, more satisfying life with closer, more enduring relationships.
Guided by radical candor, curiosity and a “medium funny” sense of humor, stephanie brings a warm and down-to-earth presence to sessions. Her capacity to hold multiplicity—to be both affirming and gently challenging—is informed by their experience as a neurodivergent, queer, “bad” Asian American. Though our problems may not be our fault, they are our responsibility. Grounded in liberation psychology and neuroscience, stephanie integrates psychodynamic, narrative, and dialectical therapy to provide evidence-based care that is collaborative, noncarceral, and culturally-considerate.
After work, you can find stephanie pumping iron (huraghh), throwing pottery, or reading comics. Their fully realized self would eat ice cream everyday.
stephanie is an Associate Mental Health Counselor in the state of New York (#18-P135498) supervised by Kristine King, LMHC (#013985). After earning a B.S. in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of Florida, stephanie graduated from Columbia University with an M.A. and Ed.M in Mental Health Counseling. Prior to Cerebral, they provided therapy at Mount Sinai’s Addiction Institute.
