Hello! My name is Benjamin and I’m a Queer affirming, trauma-informed counselor for individuals and couples. I specialize in supporting individuals as they heal from trauma, mend relationships, explore identity, and cope with emotional distress. My approach to work is gentle, focused, and relational, which means that my goal is to help you to feel understood, and guided to make meaningful changes in your life and relationships. I believe that this creates a path for clients to heal and to stay connected to who they are, and what they value.
I hold a bachelors in psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill, and a Masters in Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. I have also received advanced training as an Emotion Focused Therapist for LGBTQ+ couples under ICEEFT. Clinically, I draw from Emotion-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, AEDP, Mindfulness, CBT, and ACT, and I work to tailor my approach to what connects most to your experience. I ground my work in the belief that healing comes from integrating identity, culture, and spirituality into therapy, and my approach is anti-racist, LGBTQ+ and trans-affirming.
Above all, I believe that healing happens in the context of a collaborative relationship—where you feel held, respected, and never alone in the work.
