Carlos Fragoso (he/him/his) is a cisgender, gay identifying registered dietitian who is friendly and compassionate. Carlos received his Master’s in Clinical Nutrition from NYU and completed his clinical training at NYU Langone. Carlos has worked within the LGBTQIA+ community at Mount Sinai Beth Israel hospital in downtown Manhattan by providing nutrition counseling to individuals receiving gender-affirming surgeries. Additionally, Carlos has privately counseled clients struggling with a variety of LGBTQIA+ issues including poor body image, body dysmorphia, low self-esteem, disordered eating, and eating disorders. Carlos has completed 50+ hours of formal training on counseling LGBTQIA+ individuals on eating disorders and body image. Carlos also has extensive experience counseling individuals on gut health, weight management, fatigue, food intolerances/sensitivities, and chronic disease management (diabetes, pre-diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, autoimmune disease, etc.)
Carlos’s practice is rooted in his ethos that knowledge is power, proper nutrition is the foundation of wellbeing, and food is meant to be enjoyed and life is meant to be lived. Carlos incorporates aspects of intuitive eating, mindful eating, anti-diet messaging, and health at every size (HAES).
When Carlos isn’t counseling clients, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, moving his body (weight training, group fitness, yoga), cooking, trying new restaurants, and tasting different wines. He is an avid traveler, having lived in China for five months, and recognizes the importance of the relationship between food, diet, and culture.
