As a queer/lesbian identifying married woman and mom in NYC, I am honored to work with clients who seek connection within these identities. Parenting, relationships, navigating family dynamics, and living authentically in queer life are some of my favorite areas to explore. Catalyst Counseling is a safe place for individuals of all kinds, and I founded this practice to create a space where queer life’s challenges and joys are honored, and your identity is valued.
As a queer woman and mom, I seek ways to better support clients through their fertility journeys, and into parenthood. This might look like providing letters affirming their need for certain medical testing and treatments or fertility medications. Many adoption agencies and sperm banks continue to require some therapy (an outdated practice), and I often help with this step.
My personal experience with my wife carrying our first child, my pregnancy, birthing as a queer woman, choosing to induce lactation to nurse my non-biological child, and other moments throughout our process, make me well-versed in the needs of fellow queer people on this journey. My hope is to support clients in processing how their family goals might change their identity.
Of course, all therapists are students and I identify as a life-long learner. In my clinical training, many queer groups were left out, so I continue to seek trainings that include more diverse communities beyond my own. We all deserve excellent care, be it medical, emotional, or otherwise. I hope to be a provider clients can count on for empowerment.
