Dr. John Satchel Horatio Page, Jr., DSW, LCSW (TX, NY)
Queer Black Therapist | Mental Health Advocate | Cultural Wellness Practitioner | Founder of Universal Therapies Healing in Color & Hush Health Inc.
As a Black queer man, licensed clinical social worker, and community-rooted healing practitioner, I bring both lived and clinical expertise to the care of LGBTQIA+ individuals—especially queer men of color navigating trauma, identity, intimacy, and mental health with layered complexity.
I offer psychotherapy services that are not only LGBTQ+ affirming but LGBTQ+ centered, trauma-informed, and rooted in cultural humility. My practice actively integrates ancestral healing, decolonized mental health practices, somatic attunement, and relational repair—because for many of us, healing is not just individual; it’s communal, spiritual, and political.
🌈 Specializations in LGBTQ+ Care:
LGBTQ+ identity development & affirmation
Gay/bi/queer men’s relational wellness
Sexual trauma, survival labor, and financial exploitation recovery
Gender expansiveness and nonbinary support
HIV/AIDS mental health care, shame resilience, and disclosure work
Faith, religious trauma, and spiritual integration (especially for clients from Pentecostal or Afro-Caribbean backgrounds)
Somatic tools for anxiety, depression, and dissociation in marginalized bodies
🏳️🌈 Professional Experience & Qualifications:
Doctorate in Social Work (DSW) – USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work
Former doctoral candidate – NYU Silver School of Social Work
Graduate, Columbia University (MSSW, Clinical Track)
Advanced Certifications in LGBTQIA+ Clinical Competency, HIV/AIDS mental health, and Anti-Oppression Psychotherapy
Member, National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network (NQTTCN), and NASW’s LGBTQ+ Caucus
Founder, Hush Health Inc. – a culturally responsive digital wellness platform for Black LGBTQ+ communities
I’ve spent over a decade working with survivors of complex trauma, including those impacted by racialized violence, homophobia, religious rejection, housing instability, HIV stigma, and human trafficking. I bring a de-pathologizing lens to queer existence—recognizing our identities not as problems to be fixed, but as sacred, powerful, and worthy of care.
✊ Why I Do This Work
I created Universal Therapies Healing in Color to be a home for people like us—those who live at the intersections of race, queerness, gender, and legacy. I understand firsthand what it means to be misrepresented or erased in therapy spaces. My clients trust me because I bring both clinical rigor and cultural reverence into the room.
I welcome LGBTQ+ clients of all backgrounds, with a special focus on Black and Afro-Latinx LGBTQ+ folks, queer men, survivors, and those reimagining relationships, power, and purpose. You deserve care that sees all of you. Let’s do this work—together.
