I am a trauma therapist with 25+ years of experience working with diverse LGBTQIA+ individuals. My background is in LGBTQ+ community mental health, where I have served as a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and Outpatient (Non-Profit) Clinic Director.
My style is warm, active, and authentic. Starting therapy is hard, so my priority is for you to feel relaxed, understood, and comfortable in early sessions. I welcome laughter and questions in therapy. I also provide psychoeducation about the mind/body’s hard-wired functions to reduce shame and confusion around unwanted thoughts and behaviors.
I am an EMDRIA-certified therapist and have advanced EMDR training on techniques that address avoidance, dissociation, impulsivity, compulsivity, and high distress when processing painful memories. I also frequently use EMDR to help clients who feel “stuck,” anxious, or want to change upsetting patterns that traditional talk therapy hasn’t improved.
I tend to be a good fit for people who are looking to address core negative beliefs or considering a big step in life – like starting social/physical transition or becoming an LGBTQIA+-identified parent (I’m a parent too).
