In a culture that prioritizes work over play, restriction over abundance, and motion over stillness, many of us struggle to relax into our most comfortable selves. Treating your heart, body, and mind with compassion is no easy feat in this life! We may work well together if you’re navigating perfectionism, low self-esteem, loneliness, or the complex reverberations of childhood trauma. Many of my clients identify as LGBTQIP2SA+, creatives/artists, and others who are choosing authenticity in a world that doesn’t always reflect or support their values.
I am a trauma-informed, psychodynamic therapist rooted in attachment theory. I tend to believe a lot of our suffering comes from the behaviors we developed early on to protect us from unsafe environments. While those protective strategies were necessary at the time, they can sometimes unconsciously dictate how we act and relate in the world as adults. In my experience, emotional healing happens from the safety and trust of a genuine relationship. Together, we’ll listen for what your feelings, anxieties, dreams, and relational patterns are trying to tell you. I show up in the room as a real person with curiosity, playfulness, and directness.
Coming to therapy is a radical act of both turning inward and turning towards another. I honor what it took to get here, and I don’t take lightly what it means to invite someone in. My work is trauma-informed and rooted in queer liberation. My approach to therapy draws from psychoanalytic, relational, and existential perspectives. I am interested in all that makes you who you are: your past and present relationships, the way you view yourself and others, your dreams and waking fantasies, your deepest fears and strongest beliefs.
I view therapy as a collaborative ritual in which we tend to the whole truth of your experience, including that which feels messy, painful, or hard to name. Therapy, when done well, can help you build the capacity to meet yourself with more honesty, agency, and creativity. Whether you’re new to therapy or it’s felt disappointing in the past, I invite you to reach out.
