Whether it’s your first time in therapy or your hundredth, finding a therapist can be nerve racking. That’s why I prioritize building a solid working relationship built on trust. My identity as a therapist is best defined by my authenticity and nonjudgmental stance. I’m not afraid to embrace my client’s sense of humor, interests, strengths, and culture while also helping them build the courage to confront their maladaptive thoughts and behaviors. I try and meet you wherever you’re at and help you develop the insight and skills so that you can reach your goals and realize your potential. I personally love working with people who may have apprehensions about seeking treatment as well as those who have felt like therapy hasn’t worked for them in the past. I have experience working with trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, men’s issues, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ populations, and children and adolescents. But I embrace the opportunity to work with anyone and everyone.
While attending Kutztown University, I obtained both a bachelor’s in psychology and master’s in clinical mental health counseling. While completing my masters; I was a member of Chi Sigma Iota (international honors society for counseling students) as well as Alpha Epsilon Lambda (international honors society for graduate students) and received the outstanding counseling student award for the 2023-2024 school year. I also completed my internship at Family Guidance Center in Wyomissing PA.
My main theoretical orientation is cognitive behavioral, however; I also utilize DBT, motivational interviewing, and person-centered approaches. I’ve earned certificates in exposure-based CBT for Social anxiety disorders, CPT for PTSD, and completed the training for the 2020 DBT Summit: latest in practice-based interventions. I take an individualized approach to treatment that involves both directive skills-based approaches and non-directive insight-based approaches. I know from personal and professional experience that people can make the greatest changes when the right support is there to guide them. The greatest privilege I have as a therapist is helping people learn how to help themselves.
Outside my role as a therapist, I am a college wrestling coach and I like to volunteer as a youth and high school coach during the summer months. In my spare time, I also enjoy fishing, reading, listening to music, learning new things, and spending time with family and friends.
