My name is Kirsten Newlin and I am a Nationally Certified Counselor with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rosemont College. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor Psychology from Arcadia University in Glenside, PA. I am an active member of the American Counseling Association.
I have experience working with individuals and psychoeducational groups. I have had the pleasure of working with clients of various ages, experiences (i.e. Grief/Loss and Trauma) and diagnoses such as Anxiety, Depression, and ADHD. In session, I utilize a humanistic, person-centered therapeutic framework. I also draw from behavioral theories such as Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focus. In working with trauma, I tend to delve into Narrative Therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Most importantly, I am willing and able to adjust my approach based on the needs of my client.
With my education and experience, I seek to provide counseling services that support client growth and healing. I strive to work hard for my clients’ wellbeing, with the expectation that clients are willing to put energy into their own healing, as there is mutuality in the counseling relationship. Overall, I aim to help clients overcome life’s challenges and gain awareness that although difficult experiences can create pain, they also build resiliency, empathy, insight, tolerance, and wisdom.
