My clinical work is informed by lived experience and ongoing professional training. I am currently engaged in ongoing training and continuing education related to LGBTQ+ affirming care, complex trauma, and religious trauma. I am under supervision with a seasoned therapist who specializes in working with LGBTQ+ individuals, couples, and polycules, and these perspectives are regularly brought into supervision.
During my time in graduate school, I intentionally focused my education on the impact of high-control or identity-invalidating religious environments on LGBTQ+ individuals. This included targeted coursework, research, and clinical learning centered on the intersection of faith, identity, and trauma.
Many clients I work with often hold multiple, overlapping identities and experiences, including LGBTQ+ identity, neurodivergence, religious or institutional betrayal trauma, chronic pain/illness, and complex trauma. I approach this work in a non-pathologizing, consent-based way, prioritizing stabilization, pacing, and collaboration. Clients are not expected to educate me about their identities or defend their experiences in order to receive affirming care.
