I am *not* a counselor or therapist, having found those boxes too narrow for the biopsychosocialspiritual healing I provide (see my credentials below).
I specialize in listening to liberate liminal creatures into their True Selves. You’re an emerging butterfly. You’ve transcended the soup stage of your metamorphosis: survived loss and trauma; navigated grief; shapeshifted careers; awakened to – and found avenues of activism to fight – systemic racism and other injustices; invited in safe others to your Queer identity; transitioned to match your gender identity; left toxic families, partner(s), workplaces, even homeland(s); and/or crossed countless other thresholds. You’ve found people, practices, and principles to help you float in the seas of uncertainty. You have a great therapist and other providers; the love of friends and family; meaningful ways to spend your days. You know a butterfly flight path awaits you. You’re eager to more fully embrace ‘What Makes You Come Alive’ (Howard Thurman); ‘Rest As Resistance’ (Tricia Hersey); ‘betwixt and between’ (Victor Turner); how ‘this very moment is the perfect teacher’ (Pema Chödrön); Living Untethered’ (Michael Singer); ‘Falling Upward’ (Richard Rohr); ‘The Cloud of Unknowing’ (Anonymous); ‘The Dark Night’ (St John of the Cross); and ‘The Interior Castle’ (Teresa of Avila). You seek a seasoned guide so you can soar new heights. Reach out. Let’s co-listen you to full liberation.
The credentials: I am certified in: Spiritual Direction and Retreats, from the Spirituality Center on the campus of Mt. St. Mary’s University in Los Angeles (a 3-year program); Clinical Traumatology, from the Traumatology Institute in Canada (including 6 additional certifications ranging from Early Intervention Field Traumatologist to Compassion Fatigue Specialist); the Enneagram; and mindfulness. I also have an MA in Sociology and Anthropology, from Fordham University in New York City. I spent 20+ years as a writer and 30+ years as a researcher, focused primarily on social inequalities (including but not limited to race, gender, class, the intersectionality therein, health / illness, and homelessness).
As an Enneagram 5 and INTJ who is neurodivergent / has autism, I particularly enjoy clients who comfortably identify as nerds.
But (*both.and*) I am also a mystic, with an apophatic spirituality of the St John of the Cross nada, nada, nada variety, so I also love clients who seek to move out of their heads and into their bodies. Trauma resides in the body; somatic and mindfulness practices, including ritual, move it out.
I was born in the United States, and see remote clients who live in any state there.
But (*both.and*) these days I divide my time between Spain and the rest of the world; sometimes Ireland, Morocco, Egypt, Chile, Costa Rica, Canada, and other countries.
So I can meet you remotely, or in person, in many places in the world.
Many clients call me the Queen of *both.and*.
Though I am a cis, het, white woman in my mid-50s, I have many friends, family, and clients who identify as LGBTQIA2+. Some of them have paid me the highest compliment by saying that I am the one who set them free to be their own version of Queer.
