Roe Cohen Jules, PMHNP (they/them)
I am a queer, nonbinary Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner specializing in integrative, trauma-informed care for LGBTQ+ individuals and families. My work is deeply rooted in the belief that queer and trans people deserve healthcare that affirms identity, honors lived experience, and tends to both body and mind.
Before becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I spent over a decade as a labor and delivery nurse, as well as working as a doula. These experiences shaped my commitment to perinatal mental health, especially for queer and trans birthing people who are too often overlooked and harmed in mainstream systems. For the past five years, I have also run a private somatic therapy practice focused on pelvic floor therapy, abdominal visceral work, and trauma repair.
In my psychiatric practice, I provide:
LGBTQ+ affirming mental health care (diagnosis, medication management, and integrative psychiatry)
Perinatal psychiatry for queer and trans individuals navigating fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, loss, and parenting
Somatic-informed psychiatric care, bridging the body and psyche in the healing process
Trauma-informed support, centering resilience and consent
Integrative treatment approaches, including discussion of supplements, lifestyle interventions, and embodied practices alongside conventional medication management
I have trained and collaborated with diverse mentors in somatic therapy, integrative psychiatry, and trauma-informed care, and I regularly seek continuing education in perinatal psychiatry, queer health, and psychopharmacology.
My practice, Tended Root Integrative Psychiatry + Somatics, centers queer and trans people while welcoming individuals of all identities. Together we aim to bridge manual therapy, somatic attunement, and psychiatric care in a way that honors the full ecology of a person’s life.
As a provider, I strive to offer more than symptom management. I hold space for identity, community, nervous system patterns, and the cultural meaning-making that shapes mental health. I know firsthand that queer and trans families are growing, thriving, and deserve healthcare that meets us in our wholeness.
