As a lesbian woman of color, I realize the disparities that members of the LGBTQ+ community face-especially when it comes to receiving high-quality, equitable healthcare. Based on this, I decided to take my 18+ years of medical expertise and establish JourneyCare Family Medicine to ensure that high-quality health care is available in an environment that is inclusive, warm, and welcoming to all mankind. I am a proud LGBTQ+ member, health advocate, and National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) certified partner. Over the years, I have helped to develop clinical practice guidelines to help medical providers become more LGBTQ+ care competent in primary care settings.

As it relates to wellness, my philosophy is quite simple: Health is the first wealth, and we either choose to prioritize/make time for wellness or we are forced to make time for illness.” I am passionate about providing care that is specific to the individual as the “one size fits all” approach is simply not the best process with respect to the practice of medicine. It is also my belief that every person deserves equal and equitable access to healthcare that is high quality as well as holistic. My goal is to establish a positive as well as collaborative patient-provider partnership based on mutual respect, transparency, and trust to achieve optimal health outcomes for those who are trusting me with their care.
